Designing Interactive Experiences
Project 1: Site & Response
Project 2: Fictional Objects
Project 3: Experiential Zine
For my first project, I wanted to go with a site that held beauty along with a meaningful history. This is how I ended up intervening with the Boston Common. My intervention mimic'd the beauty of how the Boston Common stood the test of time. There was a meaningful decision behind placing a rock in the grass where nobody would ever touch it. My goal was to put have an impact, one not too noticeable so that it'll stay that way for a long time.
This design was my first time 3D printing. I wanted to incorporate a comedic aspect yet clever aspect into my project. A box that had previously contained a cup had been sitting on my desk collecting dust for as long as I can remember. I used this to formulate an idea to create a cupholder out of just the box. A sort of way to put the box to use for the cup it had previously held. After a couple iterations I found that this task would not prove to be that easy and I quickly went into prototyping a 3d model. I ended up with a comedically large cupholder for a cup that looks like a bowl with a handle.
This project stemmed from one of my favorite games ever. As a game design major, I wanted my Zine to have a playful aspect that took on an in real life twist. I ended up with the idea of making a cookbook after watching my roommate chef up a fantastic meal. This cookbook takes popular recipes within the game and shows a real life example of how you could incorporate this recipe. This was the start of my design journey as I struggled with using canva for the first time, but ended up with a product that I was satisfied with. Printing this project was also fairly difficult, but had a rewarding aspect to finishing multiple copies.
